The Lagos at 50 celebrations officially kicked off on Saturday, April 8th 2017 with the iconic ‘Agba Meta’ statue, The Three Wise Men touring the streets of Lagos, distributing gifts. Beginning in Ikeja and rounding off at V.I, the trio made sure to touch some of the key areas in Lagos state, including Ikorodu, ojodu Berger, Idumota and Oshodi.

Their final stop was Terra Kulture in V.I, Lagos, where Wakaa The Musical, the first live show of the celebrations was scheduled to hold.

The glamorous event saw the presence of some entertainers as well as top Lagos state government officials, including the deputy governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde and actor, Segun Arinze, who was the night’s host.

Produced and directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters, the action-packed play took the audience on an emotional journey with the story of a group of friends who, after graduating from the University, found themselves in a new world where they had to make tough real-life decisions on love, betrayal, uncertainty and the challenges and corruption that abound in the world of politics.

The show, which was a combination of dance, music and drama had everyone captivated as the gifted cast delivered a most thrilling performance.
