Five finalists emerged from the Abuja regional show of GCGT7 episode two that aired last Sunday 21st May 2017 after impressing the judges.

The regional finalists included 8 year old saxophonist Peter, spoken word performer Sophie and 9 year old gospel rapper known as Enoch. Others were drummer Joshua James and dancer, Emmanuel.

The Abuja regional finalists performed alongside several contestants vying for spots in the next stages of Africa’s biggest gospel talent show for a star prize of 250million Naira Management deal, a cash prize of 10million Naira and brand new car.

Though it was a huge task for the GCGT7 judges comprising award-winning singer Omawumi, prolific dancer and world record holder, Kaffy as well as ace music producer, TY Mix to shortlist the finalist from Abuja region.

The episode also shared some backstage moments including an emotional conversation with a contestant who forgot the lyrics to his song on stage. “I was overwhelmed by the reality of performing to a studio audience, knowing the judges are watching. But I’m happy to have seen Omawumi, Kaffy and TY Mix. I will work harder next time” he said.

One of the main highlights of the episode happened during the results segment when a surprised Joshua James who had blessed audience with a seamless drum set performance couldn’t contain his excitement on hearing he would be joining the ‘chosen ones’ from Abuja region. The teenager simply fell to his knees in total praise, it was a moment to remember.

9 year old rapper Enoch is without a doubt the star of the day? The talented gospel rap lyrists got the audience into a frenzy as he performed ‘Halleluyah’ during his set before the judges. Even Kaffy took a lesson on a cool way to do the ‘dap’.

The five contestants shortlisted from Abuja will now proceed to the semi-finals with other regional finalists. But you can only know who will represent Port Harcourt and Lagos regions when you watch other episodes of GCGT7 showing this Sunday on Wazobia Max 3pm- 4pm, NTA 3pm – 4pm, HIPTV 4 – 5pm, EbonyLife TV 6pm – 7pm, OH TV 6pm – 7pm, Dove TV 11pm – 12am and Silverbird TV11pm -12am.
